Northern International Inc. (NII), a privately held company that designs, manufactures and markets a comprehensive array of outdoor lighting products aimed at the Home Improvement/Home Decor Market is looking for an experienced Assistant Product Manager / Production Coordinator to join its team in Delson, QC.
*** Please note that this is NOT a logistics, shipping or production coordination position in the classic sense. The main responsibility is to ensure our Chinese factories understand what we have asked them to manufacture and will manufacture according to our requested specs. The most critical experience for this position is having dealt with Chinese factories on a DAILY basis preferably in the manufacturing of newly designed or customized products. ***
The main responsibilities include:
Communicating with overseas vendors / factories
Submitting product spec sheets, documentation, and packaging instructions
Ensuring accurate and timely completion of development items, production sample deliveries and quote sheets
Tracking development, delivery dates and production statuses
Escalating major issues to the relevant Product Manager
Ensuring that all product sheets are complete and accurate
Ensuring product sheets are organized and easily findable
Managing product samples with the Chinese factories through ordering, logistics coordination, follow up, storage, and distribution
Assisting Product Manager and Sales Support department with the preparation of sales and marketing presentations, product development process, administrative support
Compiling market/Internet competitive shopping and product information
Handling special projects and even coordinating, as required
Requirements
Minimum 2 years’ experience in a similar position working with a Product Manager, Buyer or Production Coordinator
Experience working and communicating with overseas factories (Chinese factories an added asset)
Experience working with consumer retail goods
Excellent computer knowledge in PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Outlook
Proactive with an ability to work autonomously when required
Must work well under pressure and have the ability and character to meet tight deadlines
Must have exceptional organizational skills
Must possess strong attention to detail, accuracy and follow-up
Ability to work in a team environment
Bilingual (English/French) with exceptional written and verbal communication (Mandarin an asset but not required)
